Nothing reminds you more of great old time radio than Buck Rogers, or more correctly, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Buck Rogers is a character that originated in the magazine story, Armageddon 2419, by Philip Francis Nowlan. It appeared in the pulp magazine Amazing Stories.

The character of Buck Rogers is derived from Anthony Rogers, a veteran of WWI who is working for the American Radioactive Gas Corporation. He is out on the job in an abandoned coal mine, there have been reports of mysterious happenings in this mine. He's in a low level of the mine when it collapses. He gets exposed to some type of radioactive gas, and goes into suspended animation for almost 500 years. Awakening none the worse, he heads out of the mine and starts walking around. He stumbles upon a young woman being attacked, comes to her aid, and kills one of the bad guys. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that everyone is dressed a 'little different' than what he's used to. The young woman, Wilma Deering, takes Buck back to her group. And they want Buck to use his experience as a WWI soldier to help them defeat their enemies.

Anyways, that's how the character originated. As far as old time radio goes, Buck Roger, or Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, was the first science fiction radio show. From 1932 to 1947, Buck Rogers was on again, off again. Different time slots, sponsors, networks, and long lapses in the series. The shows were 15 minute serial dramas. Buck now had access to futuristic devices and weapons such as ray guns.

Buck Rogers was played by numerous actors throughout the rocky career of this show. It was groundbreaking at the time, and very popular. Without going into the names of all the villains, it was a basic good vs. evil plot line.

Being a series, old time radio fans sometimes have to miss out on parts of a story. The longest and most famous serial in this old time radio sci-fi classic is ' Gyro Cosmic Relativator'. There is a little confusion on how many episodes are in this particular series, eddiesotr.com has episodes 1-12. But doing a little research, there is a bit of confusion. Some fan sites say there were only 11 episodes. It is almost impossible to determine. On this MP3 CD there are also 7 episodes of 'The Mechanical Mole' and 5 episodes of 'The Chase After Killer Kane'. There are 32 episodes total.
