A familiar local landmark in South Shields at Marsden, of the top of the Marsden Grotto’s lift shaft with it’s adjoining corridor with the setting sun shining through the windows, the stunning sunset of the 15th of June 2011 makes for a supurb backdrop.

Standing well over 100 metres above the stoney shoreline, the lift shaft takes you down to the Grotto restaurant and bar which is built in the caves at the foot of the cliffs, just in front of the famous Marsden Rock.
