The Midgard Serpent design is based on the myth of a serpent. Midgard translates to middle enclosure, the defensive fortress which the gods build about the middle portion of the earth allotted to men in order to protect mankind from the giants. was situated between the heavenly realm of Asgard and the foreboding wastes of Hel. The serpents name is Jörmungandr and is Loki's third child. This serpent grew so large that Odin put it's tail in his mouth and threw it in the ocean that surrounded Midgard. The serpent twists and coils causing the waves and tides. It is said that when the Midgard Serpent tail comes out of his mouth the world will end. The Midgard Serpent is also the sworn enemy of the God Thor. This is a light airy beautiful shining piece of ornate elegance and mystery.
