Another fine and rare item for El Al & aviation route map collectors. Original EL AL Israeli Airlines Route Map brochure from early '60s. Dated according to the year two Boeing 720B jets were delivered to EL AL. The brochure indicates use of Boeing 707 Intercontinental (powered by Rolls Royce Conway Jets) and the Boeing 720B (powered by Pratt & Whitney Fan Jets). Very interesting route to South Africa, through Turkey and Iran, due to the hostilities with Arab neighbors. Historical maps and graphics giving somewhat a sense of historical significance to the choice of destinations and routes flown by El Al. The Persian Empire, The Roman Empire, The Ottoman Empire & Napoleon's Empire are mapped, along with another illustration showing Europe and the Middle East where some significant historical events are pictured, like the conquest of Constantinople by us, the Turks. Nice Sultan with a sword and Turkish flag. Very interesting and unusual route map.
Approximate size: 10.2 x 20.4 cm. folded, 40.5 x 60.5 cm spread out. This route map is in English, French and Hebrew. Printed in Israel by E. Lewin Epstein Ltd. In excellent condition.
