This is a truly fine quality and highly stylish period piece in typical Art Nouveau or Arts & Crafts Movement style.
The square galleries bowl and two sweeping handles stand on a curved tapering column and a square base.
The bowl has curved sides with pierced decorations and cast borders. Interior of the bowl displays highly stylised repousse decorations of flowers and foliate. The column and the base are also similarly decoarated with conforming designs.
The makers initials JD&S for James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield and a bugle are stamped on the base indicating a late Victorian manufacture date of 1896. Also stamped EPBM for Britannia grade silver plate.
Size: 20 cm (8 inches) tall, 41 cm (16.1 inches) across the handles, 1.3 kg (46 oz) in weight.
Condition: No dents, splits or restoration. There is wear to the silver plate as seen on the photos.
