Robert Daves was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC and wrote to his folks back home in Drexel. The book follows his incredible journey with the 509 th Parachute Infantry Battalion, the first U. S. Paratroops to fight in World War II. Daves was a T/5 radio operator in the 2nd Platoon of F Company and was killed in action in the vicinity of Mount Croce above Venafro, Italy.
