Large Victorian Reward of Merit Card by GIBSON - roses, church, river
VICTORIAN REWARD OF MERIT CARD - by Gibson
Here's a large and very pretty Reward of Merit card featuring large pink and red roses framing a rural scene with what appears to be a church beside a river. At the bottom of the card there's a pre-printed line with filled-in names which reads: "Presented to Eleanor Hunter By R. R. Hartsock, TEACHER."
The back of the card is blank.
Size: approx. 4-5/8" x 6-3/4"
Date: Not dated.
Lithographer: Gibson & Co., Cincinnati, Ohio
Condition: Very good, I'd say. The card is ONLY lightly soiled with barely worn edges and corners. There are several small scrapes visible on the red rose. (Please see scan.) The back of the card has some light glue staining.
