Offered for your consideration is a gray, wool Confederate Military Vest for field service. Although the vest was not an issue item, it was very popular with the soldiers. The vest would allow the soldier to wear their outer coat open rather then tightly buttoned. The vest also provided an extra layer of clothing in colder weather. This vest has 9 brass general service "CSA" buttons, with a stand up collar, 2 welt-style external waist pockets, and a breast pocket. It is in new unissued condition.
