Large luxury vintage bohemian style wedding guest book and presentation box.
This high quality large size guest book has 70 thick British made cartridge paper sheets (140 writing sides), colour off-white. The book is casebound in the traditional way - the sheets sewn together in sections for superior strength. As the pages are heavyweight, this book could also be used as a photo album if desired.
Covered back and front in champagne coloured handloom silk dupion fabric with its characterful slubby texture. Additonally, the book features a hand sewn panel of exquisite pure silk velvet (absolutely no synthetic fibres) in midnight blue. This rarely available fabric is made from 100% silk yarns. The panel is embellished with two precious remnants of an antique Edwardian tulle lace trim - made in France in the early 1900s, and thus of heirloom quality.
The colour of the lace is soft ivory, the silk threads having a gentle sheen. The sinous floral leaf embroidery has been created on a fine cotton tulle - the pattern, a classic Art Nouveau design.
The velvet panel features two Art Nouveau reproduction butterfly stampings. These stampings are made in the USA from solid brass, which has been professionally plated and antiqued.
To each butterfly I've added a freshwater pearl - as lustrous as moonlight!
Additionally, the velvet panel is edged with delicate ivory coloured pure silk ribbon with its buttersoft texture - together with a beautiful handmade silk ribbon rose, created from the same ribbon.
The spine of the guest book is wrapped in another piece of lace - this time, a remant of ivory coloured early vintage cotton lace with ornate design, which was made in France c.1930s.
The book has 70 leaves (140 writing sides) of best quality ivory white acid-free cartridge paper. The hardback cover (front and back) is slightly padded to impart an additional element of luxury.
The inside hardcover of the book (back and front) is covered with handmade heavily textured lokta and jute fibre paper.
The lid of the rigid presentation box has a panel of handmade unbleached lokta and jute fibre paper, embellished with two pressed pink roses gathered from the garden.
The roses are sealed with a matte decoupage finishing product to help protect against UV light and atmospheric moisture, thus helping to preserve the delicate colours.
