According to the package, this sealed deck of playing cards was sold in aid of the Royal National Life-Boat Institution. The Life-boat service is supported entirely by voluntary contributions. Over 100,000 people have been saved from death at sea since the service was founded in 1824. Since this is a vintage deck of cards and with the increase in pleasure boats, I'm sure the number is much higher now. The RNLI is still operating and has a website and online gift store.
The cards have two flags on the backs. The white spot is the remains of a price sticker. The pack is still sealed in cellophane.
