If you collect the unusual, this will intrigue you. It is a thread painting of a little girl holding three white lambs. It was created with what looks like embroidery thread (maybe boucle yarn) for the clothing face and toes. The lambs look to incorporate a hooked technique and the hair looks like wig-making techique of punching the end into the canvas and combing it down. The whole thing is worked onto a background of red twill and framed in a very heavy wooden frame in perfect condition. I'd judge the frame to be from the 60s when antique finishes were the rage but it could be older and just refinished then.
The needlework is exquisite and the details are charming. The lambs look blissful and the little girl as a loving mother should. Her toes are crossed and the streaks in her blond hair look like they were put in by a high-priced beautician. The framed picture measures 14x17 inches and is 1½ inches deep. It weighs almost 4 pounds. Plan on 5 pounds for shipping once it is packaged.
**A note about the photos. There is considerable flash reflection in the glass. It makes the picture look smeared but it is solely flash glare. There is not a thing wrong with the picture.
