These are a little bit low rise, although not excessively low - and they're great to wear with a longer shirt that covers the waistband as there are no pockets for the shirt to catch on, which gives you a very lean silhouette. They're somewhat textured, the plaid isn't completely flat, which is an unusual detail - in fact, I'm listing 3 pairs of these shorts, as I liked them so much I bought them in every color.
