This small cedar box is a souvenir of Bruges, Belgium and has a hinged lid with a picture of a canal lined by grand homes. The box is a slice of a cedar log or branch and still retains the bark. The inside is hollowed out. The picture on the lid is decoupaged on and signed Bruges at the top. The sealant makes it look like it is hand-painted.
The box is oval and 4 inches across and 2 high. What looks like a break in the wood on the right side is actually where a smaller branch was sawed off.
The box is signed on the bottom K. Green and someone has written in pencil 2356 Lethbridge 33. It is quite old and has lost all cedar aroma. It has cracked at the back but it's not going any where. If you have fond memories of Bruges or dream of going there or just collect boxes, this will be a welcome addition.
