A lovely little cut glass condiment or pickle dish made in the American Brilliant manner for Birks Canada. The dish is 3.5 by 7.75 inches and about 1.5 inches high in the center edge.
The design is three 16 point hobstars with some long fanned cuts and a bit of cross hatching. The top edge is sawtoothed. The Birks name inside a diamond is in the center of the central hobstar. If the dish has another signature I can't find it.
Condition is that it looks great but has numerous little chips in the sawtooth edge that you have to feel for more than see. Also some on the bottom which are even harder to detect. I've included a lot of photos.
Little is known about Canadian glass cutters although it is assumed they trained in the US and then opened shops in Canada. Birks being a luxury company would have acquired their glass from the best.
