Finely grained, very hard and dense Redheart & Bocote woodturning blanks! Beautiful solid and tight grain, very intense figure, fully waxed! Extremely useful for goose, duck calls, bowl blanks, pool cues, fine furniture, gun and knife handles, musical instruments and a variety of other turnings.Typical characteristics:(Redheart) Color/Appearence: Aptly named, Redheart is predominantly red, though it can vary in intensity and hue from board to board: anywhere from a light orange/pink, (similar to Pink Ivory ), to a darker brownish red. In some cases, it can look quite similar to Bloodwood, though usually with a more visible and figured grain pattern. Grain/Pore: Redheart has very small pores, and a fine, even texture. The grain is usually straight, but pieces with wild or curly grain are sometimes seen. Workability: Fairly easy to work, though it can burn easily. Finishes and glues well.Bocote: Rosewoodaka Cordia elaeagnoidesis known to originate from southern Mexico. Its valuable rosewood timber is highly sought after for quality products including musical instruments, chess parts, turnery and carving.
