This is quite an interesting decorator plate. It was made in South Africa for Drostay Ware. It is hand decorated by France Marot and is No. 1000 A.2. It is identified as an Impala Ram. The plate has factory holes drilled in the back and cord for hanging.
The technique looks like the design was scratched into the color and then glazed over. This is heavy pottery and measures 10ΒΌ inches in diameter. The true color is more brown than taupe.
