Synopsis:

From the magnificent musical opening over breathtaking African vistas to its rip-roaring, emotionally charged climax, The Lion King reigns supreme as animation's greatest crowning achievement. Set amid the majestic beauty of the Serengeti, Disney's epic coming-of-age saga tells of love between a proud lion ruler, Mufasa, and his son Simba - a naive and curious cub who "just won't wait to be king."

Out of the shadows prowl Simba's envious Uncle Scar and his hyena henchmen. Their scheming for the throne leads to tragedy...and Simba's exile from the kingdom he should rightfully rule. Befriended by the warmhearted warthod Pumbaa and his manic meerkat companion, Timon, Simba forgets his regal responsibilities and adopts the carefree lifestyle of "Hakuna Matata." But can Rafiki, a wise mystic baboon, help Simba reclaim his true destiny in the "circle of life?"

Back in the days, this was some of the best. The way the camera moves, the way expressions were made, and the little details most of us fail to catch was drawn. This was an indication of high quality back then and an indication of a lot of money now. The story is nothing new, of course, but the presentation is unbelievable. The story had class. It did not rush things, but it did not draw things out either.

Things were done just right. It knew when to speed things up and when to slow things down. An ability rarely seen nowadays. I believe everybody knows the story, and if not, then you should be ashamed of yourself. I've met homeless hobos who haven't watch TV for ten years who knows the story to this movie. I loved EVERY piece in this movie. There was not a single song I did not like. In the beginning, the songs were snappy, happy, and represented a carefree childhood. Later on, the songs become darker, but hopeful to represent a new life for the pride. Either way, each song was composed masterfully.

This is a timeless classic no one should miss. Of course, if you rather watch Lilo & Stitch, I'd understand.... This movie is one of the best of its era and it shines through.
