This late 19th century Victorian gold filled brooch measures 1 1/16" across. This particular type of brooch is referred to as a honeymoon brooch. The rebus of the flowers (honey) plus moon appealed to the Victorian sentiment and would have been an appropriate gift from groom to bride. In the language of flowers, the forget-me-not symbolizes true love.
