This cat is a charmer and I have used her in numerous photographs as part of the set decor. It has a sort of Miss Priss style head with long eyelashes accenting large eyes and the wide almost grinning face.
The cat is dressed in a hand painted dress. She is playing a stringed instrument with a bow. The instrument looks a bit primitive but may be an Asian stringed instrument like the Chinese gaohu.
The head of the instrument was broken off when I acquired this. Traditionally these were dragon heads. The little musician has lost none of her charm for being left with a partial instrument. She sits on a slow stool with the instrument on her knees looking as blissful as YoYo Ma.
The figurine is made of Chines porcelain, cold painted and is just shy of 5 inches high. Other than the broken head of the instrument, the figurine is in excellent condition. I am assuming this is made in China. Old but not sure how old. Probably mid 20th century.
