RARE Hand-Woven Vintage Jacquard "Cherub Bims" 1830s to 1840s Coverlet
RARE "Cherub Bims" Red & Cream Jacquard Coverlet This hand woven coverlet is from the late 1830s to early 1840s and originated from a northeast Canadian Estate to Noddin Antiques in Bangor Mainein the 1980s Florals, stars, geometric patterns and eagles in a variety of reds, blues and off whitewere common for the time period, there is barely a handful of "Cherub Bims" left onthe market. This lovely textile is 66" X 80" not including the 4 to 6 inch fringe on 3 sides.The main side of the coverlet is in museum quality condition.Approximately 18" to 20" of the fringe needs attachment with the possibility of 2to 3 inches missing. The reverse side will need some restoration, as seen in the photographs andprimarily affects the cream wool areas. Red color appears to be intact. A majorityof the damage is on the upper portion from use.We estimate 20% or less of the textile is in need of restoration. No moth or insect damage is noted. THE PRICE: According to our extensive research "Cherub Bims" coverlets have not been on the market in the last 20 years.
