RARE Vintage Dooney & Bourke Panama Collection Coated Linen and Embossed Alligator Leather Trimmed Satchel My personal favorite! This classic style works well with today's technology and fashion style. This domed satchel with bamboo handles and zipper pulls is perfect for spring and summer!! Works well with business attire or a relaxing blue-jean type of day This satchel is from the Panama Collection ca. 1985/87. As I recall the early collection had the embossed croco/allig and the later produced was trimmed with either plain leather or vinyl. Only the introduction of the line had registration numbers assigned. Wonderful statement piece from top to bottom. The body is well constructed with a beautiful, heavy linen beige/tan basket weave Panama pattern with a clear PVC protective coating. The piece is trimmed and accented in genuine alligator/crocodile embossed leather around the dual zipper opening with bamboo pulls, newer model commonly referred to as a zip zip bag. The front has the iconic Dooney Bourke Duck logo nickel mounted in/on embossed leather. The bamboo handles are attached to the bag with embossed leather and nickle mounts. The sturdy bottom of embossed leather is has 6 polished nickel "feet" to protect the leather bottom, The "feet" are imprinted with "Dooney Bourke" on the inside. The bottom inside of the satchel is dark brown leather. The original adjustable/detachable cross-body embossed leather strap is included making this extra-roomy interior satchel versatile for all today's technology essentials. It will safely accommodate smaller/medium IPad or notebooks leaving plenty of space for all your essentials. The back wall inside has a nice sized zippered pocket and "business card" slot. There is no lining. PHOTOS: We have tried to focus on the iconic craftsmanship of this RARE limited edition bag from 1985/1987 Panama Collection. (stitching, construction, d & b signature hallmarks) Do not get confused with the more mass-produced Panama Collection. The Red White & Blue "Dooney Bourke, Inc Made in U.S.A." label is located on the right interior gusset. The reverse label has the registration number A1 130162. Registration numbers were used when Dooney & Bourke made limited edition collections. As collections became more popular and were mass produced, registration numbers were eliminated. This bag is among the solely manufactured in USA - back when they had quality construction and material (sorry :-( Dooney & Bourke) MEASUREMENTS:Medium sized satchel: Length 13" Height 9" Width 4.5"Bamboo Handles: Length 7" Height 5"Detachable/Adjustable Handle: from approximately 38" to just over 42" in length, includes metal clips CONDITION: This bag is in remarkable condition and was very well taken care of. Very few (2?) scuffs on leather, the outer bag has no significant marks noted and very light yellowing from age. We have taken photos of the scuff marks found and will gladly send as many photos as requested. Inside is clean with the exception of what appears to be ink or pencil (see photo) One right side of the rear bamboo handle has lost the screw and is wired on (see photo). This can be repaired. This bag has not been "cleaned". PRICE:It's all subjective and what you are willing pay. The quality of this early bag will not compare to D & B today.
