I am offering for sale this stunning Val St Lambert crystal perfume bottle. It has cranberry floral swag against an acid etched background, which, if you look closely, is also a floral pattern. The cranberry swag is raised from the the rest of the glass slightly, giving it a cameo effect. The bottle is in pristine condition...no chips, no scratches or imperfections. It dates from around 1900. It is signed on the bottom, in cursive, etched into the glass with "Val St Lambert". It measures 6 inches high from bottom of the bottle to the top of the stopper.
Val St Lambert was founded in 1826 in Belgium. They began work out of an old Cistercian abbey, and they are the producer of crystal for the King of Belgium. They are renowned and coveted by collectors for their pieces from about 1880 to 1918. They are still in business, and their pieces are found in museums all over the world.
The design on this piece is attributed to famed Val St Lambert artist Leon Ledru.
Judging by their style on this piece, their work and craftsmanship were superb. The bottle is just beautiful, and if you look at the pictures you can see the light from the stopper refract onto the wall behind it.
