This pair of white porcelain plaques each measures 5" high x 4" wide. The fronts are convex and the backs are flat. There are holes drilled part way in the center of each back for mounting on a frame or piece of cabinetry. The subject matter is from classical Greek everyday life. I believe the artwork is taken from Thomas Hope"s "Costume Of The Greeks & Romans," a 150 year old book considered highly authentic, since the illustrations were copied from Greek and Roman vases and statues, showing a diverse population and occupations. Gold paint is in good condition except for some mild scuffing on one of the plaques. Chip on side of one plaque towards back - not very noticeable from front.
