This is a long piece of embroidered linen which I purchased thinking it was a runner. When I began to photograph it I realized the embroidery at the two ends are on opposite sides of the fabric. Since this is obviously not an accident (the piece has been used), I've been trying to come up with uses for it.
Perhaps it is a towel meant to be folded over a towel bar so both decorated ends show. My other option is that it is meant as a stationary window shade, folded over a rod so the top part will look like a valance. It could work over a small window such as an apartment kitchen or bathroom.
The fabric is heavy linen, the embroidery is first class Art Deco, and both ends have hand crocheted blue and white lace.
The measurements are 23.5 inches wide and 43 inches long. Condition is excellent vintage. No damage.
