This Victorian floral crucifix is elaborate and large. In the Victorian period, memorial sentiment allowed for massive crosses, and objects loaded with decorations were adored. The gilt brass cross is composed of a highly textured, flat base. Rose and leaves are "puffy" and applied. The work is very careful, and is a touching piece of yesterday.
The pendant with bail measures 3" and the cross displays prettily on a fresh 22" square link chain. Condition is very good. There is wear on some of the high points to the gilding, consistent with age.
