Mullein soothes inflammation and relieves pain. It clears excess mucous form the body and inhibits the absorption of allergens through mucous membranes. It has a calming effect on the nerves and is effective in treating agitated or inflamed conditions of the nervous system which are caused by coughs or spasms due to cramping. Some of its uses include respiratory allergies, bleeding in the bowels and lungs, bronchitis, coughs, croup, diarrhea, dysentery, emphysema, swollen glands, hemorrhage, insomnia, swollen joints, lung problems, bleeding lungs, lymphatic congestion, mucous membranes, nervousness, pain relief, pleurisy, pulmonary diseases, respiratory or sinus problems, sores, tuberculosis, and the oil is used for earaches.
Made into a tea it is good as a throat gargle, for toothace and for washing open sores. It also gets rid of warts.
