BOMBERMAN is back, and this time Konami and Hudson have brought him and all his friends to the PSP for more explosive action. While the game includes some new items and new twists on the game, the basic gameplay and concept is one hundred percent BOMBERMAN, and fans know that means non-stop bombing action. In the single-player mode, gamers have ten worlds to conquer, each with ten levels. These levels vary in size, with some being very small, while others take up several screens. The goal is to destroy the enemies on a level by planting bombs near them and then find the exit before time runs out. Gamers can also blow up various soft blocks on each level. These blocks sometimes contain special items that can increase the number of bombs that Bomberman can set, increase the range of the bomb’s fire, increase his speed, etc. Instead of automatically taking effect, however, like they did in previous games, players have to activate their power-ups by selecting them from their inventory. This allows gamers to pick exactly what abilities they want to use. Of course, no BOMBERMAN game would be complete without a multiplayer mode. Up to four players can compete at once, and only one copy of the game is needed. As with previous multiplayer BOMBERMAN games, players can add AI opponents, change settings, and select from a number of different stages. BOMBERMAN is a classic, and the PSP version of the game perfectly captures that great BOMBERMAN feeling.
