Midway's NFL Blitz series continues its Game Boy Advance run with seven-on-seven action played from a perspective just behind the quarterback. Players once again make judicious use of turbo to perform over-the-top runs, passes, catches, and tackles, but the offensive and defensive playbooks have been updated to allow for more short, medium, and long completions. Game modes include Exhibition, where up to two players (using a Game Link cable) compete for fun, and Season, where solo players attempt to guide their team through the 16 games leading to the NFL Blitz Championship.
Practice and Trivia are also available, with Practice allowing players to fine-tune their game in a variety of areas. The "4th and Goal" option lets users run as many plays as needed to learn the timing required in completing a pass, while "Uprights" has players focusing solely on making field goals while battling the wind. "Rules & Tips" involves learning some of the tricks of the trade in a series of informational screens designed to educate players on NFL Blitz rules and controls. Trivia offers a series of NFL-related questions where players can test their knowledge and improve their score while a timer counts down. Passwords provided at the end of each game are used to resume Season progress.
